Georgia on the Blade of Moscow’s Knife

The studio Nemelo.lv documentary “Georgia on the Blade of Moscow’s Knife” tells about the political tension in this Caucasian country before the 2024 parliamentary elections.

In power is a puppet government controlled by the oligarch Bidzin Ivanishvili. It promises the society a path to the European Union, whereas Brussels has stopped Georgia’s contacts with the EU, because the country is acting contrary to its promises, starting the path to Europe.

The Georgian government no longer even controls its border line with the Russian-occupied part of South Ossetia, just so as not to annoy the new cooperation partner – Russia, which occupied part of Georgia in 2009.

Russia regularly abducts people along this border strip. Cross the border, capture the Georgians living on this side and take them with you. This is done with the intention of intimidating the local population and making them leave the area.

The film also features:

– How does the opposition mobilize society?

– Why are there so many cryptocurrency ATMs in Tbilisi?

– What are Russian agents doing in Georgian police stations?

– Why do investors go bankrupt in Georgia?

– What do Georgian policemen think?

The film was made thanks to Ansis Pūpols being a member of the European Parliament in 2024.

The journalist Ansis Pūpols, together with his team from Nemelo.lv, has created more than 20 documentaries, researching and revealing the behind-the-scenes of both the pharmaceutical and cigarette business, studied the withdrawal of the Russian army from Latvia in the 1990s, revealed the dark side of the activities of the former president of the Bank of Latvia, Ilmārs Rinkēvičs, explored incomes of green activists.
